crossed wires

a mainly sculptural body of work that is inspired by my observations and personal experiences as a linguist and teacher, exploring language, words, meaning and messages.  heavily influenced by current news, linguistic idiosyncrasies and personal experience I apply the materials’ characteristics as a starting point. from there I see the narrative unfold and start to change, add, advance, conceal and reveal, watching the particular work take form.

SCULPTURE - Unsense - Contain (pronounced 'contine' - stands for 'continental' and 'remain') and is a language made up from words composed from different languages. In this case the 'Un' is derived from the German 'Unsinn' and the 'sense' from the English 'nonsense'
